The Top Ten Kids/Adult Costumes For Halloween This Year

Everyone’s favorite holiday is coming up and it’s the only time of year you can dress up in your fantasy outfit and not get strange looks. That’s right! It almost time for Halloween and Halloween costumes are going fast! It’s not just kids who like to dress up; adults love to dress as their favorite hero, person, or fantasy even it it’s a naughty costume.

So what’s going as the favorite this year – the princess costume! Again the princess costume wins out on the most sought after Halloween costume and not just for kids, adults want on too. It usually takes the number one spot and this year is no different.

Jack Sparrow Wig - Black

Coming in second place is a pirate costume. Jack Sparrow is still number two and it come complete with sword, hair, and sash. You can get costume accessories like the eye patch or extra knives to go with your costume, depending whether you want to be a good pirate or a bad pirate.

A vampire costume takes third place with all the gory red blood, teeth, and black cape. Twilight saga movies are responsible for this one moving up. Vampire fans want to be Edward Cullen to get that girl they’ve always wanted. Others are looking to Jacob Black costume for the Halloween treat or is that trick? Since there isn’t one many are using muscle chest shirts or a black t-shirt with muscle arms and a set of werewolf feet.

A surprising up coming costume introduced for this year is pet costumes. Pet costumes come in at forth place. I can tell you the costumes they have for pets are outstanding. You can make a German shepherd look like a hot dog or your poodle look like the Hulk complete with green hair. Of course, there is always the princess dog costume that’s a favorite with pet owners.

Fifth place goes to fancy dress costumes. That would cover the tuxedoes, southern belle, and the suave, sophisticated multimillionaire from the fifties. Fancy dress costumes are in the same place as last year cuz you can’t go wrong looking like Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara.

Sixth place has held for this year as well as last with Batman costumes for kids and adults. Everyone’s hero and if you’re there’s two of you; you can have a couples costume with Batman and Robin. Robin looks just as good as a female as with a male.

Seventh place goes to the queen costume and that’s Queen as in Elisabeth, Queen of England, or Sofía, Queen of Spain. You can’t go wrong being a queen of any country or as queen of a genre.

The old favorite witch costume comes in eighth place. The best standby costume around. If you don’t know what else to dress up as for Halloween then go with the witch. The big black hat is the funnest to wear or with a little imagination it can be turned into a wizard’s hat.

Upcoming from out of nowhere is the Indian costume to stand in ninth place. Very surprising that it tops cowboy, who didn’t make the top ten this year. It might have to do with Jacob Black, who as you know, is a Quileute Indian. It’s the standard feather headdress and leather moccasins and loin cloth.

And in the tenth place of most asked for Halloween costume this year is the angel. Mostly it’s a costume for kids but sometimes adults like to be angels too, especially if they’re little devils.

There you have it, the top ten costumes for kids and adults. Of course, you can get them almost anywhere such as Kids-R-Us, Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s, and Halloween-Costume-Mart and don’t forget to include the Internet in your search for the best kids and adult costumes. Be sure to get in early or at least get your reservation in on the costume of your choice for Halloween this year.

Give Your Guest Plenty Of Time To Come Up With Halloween Costume Ideas

If you’re having a Halloween party, your guests shouldn’t have any problems coming up with Halloween costume ideas.  There are literally thousands of ideas they can come up with.  It’s just a matter of deciding what they want to be and how much effort they want to go to.  Here are a few ideas you can give your guest, even if you have a themed party.

Since you want your guest to participate in any games you have it’s best not to have a theme party with eighteen hundred dress.  Especially for women in those long bowed out hoop dresses.  It’s even hard to dance in them let alone bob for apples.  So pick your Halloween theme with care and your guest should be happy.

Your theme can be any of the thousands ideas from cartoon characters, movies, TV shows, and
Rock Stars to the good old fashion hunted house. Give them plenty of time to get their Halloween costume ideas together by sending out the invites early.  If necessary, put ideas on the bottom of the invitations just to give them some ideas on how to dress up.

If you’re a fan of Disney then your theme will be an easy one for your guests.  They can dress up like
Beetlejuice Toy Story ,  Prince of Persia, Tigger or Pooh, Chronicles of Narnia, and even Bolt and Tinker Bell.  They list goes on and on.  It’s one theme that will have your guest running out to costume shops looking for their favorite character.

You can also make a directive that says the Halloween costume must be homemade.  It’s one of the hardest costume ideas to do but it helps use the imagination and you’ll see some wonderful costumes.

Another theme party you can throw is the Hollywood glamour themed party.  Of course, you’ll get a number of Brangelina’s and Bennifer’s plus you’ll also see all the major stars at your party.  You can tell your friends and family how you partied with the stars last night.

One more party theme that will give your guests a ton of costume ideas is a theme from classic movies. You’ll get to bob apples with Samson and Delilah, watch fireworks with Anthony and Cleopatra, and sit and drink tea with Scarleet and Rhett.  This is one of the best themes for Halloween costume ideas for your guests.

Womens Gone With The Wind Scarlet O'Hara Picnic Costume Gone With The Wind Scarlet O’Hara Picnic Costume

This is a replica of the beautiful gown worn by Scarlet O’Hara in the picnic scene in Gone With The Wind. Scarlet looked so lovely, standing out among all the other young ladies. Her goal at the barbeque at the Twelve Oaks Plantation was to see the love of her life, Ashley Wilkes. While the other girl’s are napping, Scarlet sneaks away to profess her love to Ashley. Her heart is broken when Ashley tells her of his intent to marry Melanie. Just after that she meets Rhett Butler and thus the epic story begins. She may have been upset but she still looked lovely in this Women’s Gone With The Wind Scarlet O’Hara Picnic Costume featuring a white gown with a pale green floral pattern. The dress has a ruffled neckline and a wide green satin sash. Its a stunning dress that exudes old world southern femininity.

All in all, the best theme is one that will enchant your guest and give them tons of ideas for their Halloween costume.  They will talk about your party far into the future and will remember what fun they have coming up with the Halloween costume ideas.

Vampires and Halloween

Halloween has been touted as the time when the undead decide they want to come back and visit. There is no bigger undead celebrity than the vampire. Armed with gleaming white fangs and a thirst for all things thick and red, vampires are a popular attraction on Halloween.

What is the basis for the vampire craze? Well, most of what we know came from the book by Bram Stoker. Through science and fiction, he was able to create a character of timeless quality. This is where most myths become immortal. Add a touch of truth to a lot of make believe and you get a concept that people won’t soon forget.

There was once an evil ruler named Vlad the Impaler, a Romanian prince. He was a cruel man, using torture and murder to subdue his victims. He was in perpetual war with the Turks and disposed of his enemies in gruesome ways. His moniker, Impaler, was well earned.

There is no evidence that this man had fangs or drank blood, but the name Dracula was applied to him. It was most likely an association with a knightly order, but his cruel ways perpetuated many myths.

Vampires are thought to be created by other vampires when bitten. Just enough of the blood is taken to turn the victim into one of the undead or the body is drained to kill them. The bloodlust of a vampire is so great that they must kill, or feed, on a regular basis.

There have been vampire chases throughout movies and books. They use garlic, wooden stakes, and holy water to damage their prey. The biggest vampire killer however is sunlight. As the undead, they dwell in darkness. Any light turns them into ash.

Europeans based their beliefs in vampires on folklore and stories of vampire bats. The fear of someone sucking their blood and turning them into an abomination of God frightened them into believing almost anything and doing even more to prevent it from happening to them.

On the American front, vampires are thought to be more sexual than sadistic. They still drink blood, but their dealings with humans are more for pleasure. Unlike witches who use animals as familiars, vampires use humans to do their bidding.

If this sounds familiar, you’ve probably seen one or all of the Blade Trilogy movies. Hollywood has scripted most of the modern day beliefs about vampires and Halloween. Demons or deformed gargoyles scare us, but vampires are beautiful and cool so they don’t scare as much on Halloween. Instead, they make a fashion statement.
