Chances are that by now you’ve seen your share of Halloween displays in stores throughout your city’s shopping malls. You might be wondering when is the best time to buy.

When that calendar hits October many stores know folks will buy out of necessity, many of the costume sales start to disappear.

Thankfully, prices are low and steady at one of my favorite costume spots online.

You might be thinking online costume shopping is just too risky for you in terms of sizing. Thankfully, that’s a risk you can gladly take as many online sites after exchanges.

Shipping on the average costume is about $6.99. While I wish these fees were less, but since the price is lower to begin with and you have a guaranteed quick delivery date.

Some stores will offer Free Shipping on any purchase or some may have a minimum purchase amount.

Halloween is just around the corner, and the best time to get a good costume is right now.  Costume Discounters, an online retail store, is offering special discounts on their range of Halloween Costumes.  If Halloween is a special occasion to you, you must be aware of how difficult it is to get good costumes, especially in October when the craze is widespread. It is wise to get your Halloween costume now; in order to beat the last-minute rush, and get the best costumes at unbelievably low prices.

October 31st is a special and peculiar holiday celebrated annually throughout the world. The holiday has been linked to Pomona; a Roman feast, Samhain; a Celtic festival and Parentalia; the festival of the dead. The holiday is marked by the carving of pumpkins to create jack-o-lanterns, trick-or-treating and wearing of costumes depicting mythical creatures or famous people to costume parties. Costume Discounters  knows how important this holiday is, and that is why they have placed their wide selection of Halloween costumes on sale.

Toddler Baby Bop CostumeIt can be quite difficult to find good costumes in October, because most of the wise shoppers buy their costumes well in advance. It is particularly difficult to find Baby Costumes during the last minute rush. The reason why you should buy your Halloween costume now is because they are currently on sale and you will have the liberty to choose from a wide selection still in stock. When the costumes craze kicks-in, their prices are bound to shoot up. This is the right time to buy your Halloween costume at greatly reduced prices.

One fun aspect about Halloween is deciding what you want to be for that day. Costume Discounters helps you make the choices. From our grim Assassin’s Creed costume to our sexy Aristocratic Queen Costume, we have the Halloween costumes you are looking for at the best prices on the web.

Adult Plus Pirate Treasure CostumeEverybody at one point wants to go as a bad character to most Halloween parties. The Pirates of The Caribbean movies sparked the craze for the high-seas characters, making Pirate Costumes quite popular for Halloween. Pirates are generally beloved bad characters, and Johnny Depp’s embodiment of a pirate in the Pirates of The Caribbean movies is behind this paradox.

Halloween would not be complete without the numerous Halloween parties held during the occasion. Masked parties are a favorite for this holiday, and all guests at these parties usually adorn Masquerade Masks reminiscent of the 15th century Masquerade balls. The Halloween Costume Mask adds an interesting twist to these parties, and it is always interesting to attempt to figure out who is behind elaborate masks. Halloween Adult Costumes are also a favorite for costume parties and particularly with women who want to stand out at these parties.

Costume Accessories are an important part of Halloween costume ensembles, and they also help to spruce up plain costumes. Costume Discounters offers a wide selection of accessories; ranging from cloves, hats, wings, capes and cloaks as well as costume kits and wigs.

anna rexiaHorrible news: This is a totally real costume being sold online this year. It was also supposedly up for grabs in some stores until a few hours ago, when the the Village Voice, nay the world, got wind of it.

The only thing more depressing than the fact that anyone would dream up the Anna Rexia costume, a skeleton tube dress belted by measuring tape, is the fact that anyone would buy it.

There are other questionable costume and apparel that has been made and is being pushed in various store.  Recently JC Penney’s had to pull.

A few months ago, the Internet was up in arms over a white David & Goliath T-Shirt that read, in pink bubble letters, “I’m too pretty to do math.” Then there was the one with “Future Trophy Wife” written on it.

But many parents think this one is worse.

I'm too Pretty to do mathThe long-sleeve T-shirt that J.C. Penney pulled off its website today amid plenty of parental outrage read: “I’m too pretty to do my homework so my brother has to do it for me.” And, judging by the description of the shirt on the J.C. Penney website—”Who has time for homework when there’s a new Justin Bieber album out? She’ll love this tee that’s just as cute and sassy as she is”—it seems like the company didn’t have a problem with the shirt until customers started to complain.

Thanks to major clothing retailers, parents struggle to teach  girls that beauty isn’t everything, that they don’t have to play dumb in order to be popular, that women can  be both smart and pretty.  But, even though studies show that girls are as good at math as boys, even with beautiful movie stars earning Ivy League degrees in between blockbuster hits, the stereotypes persist—thanks in large part to messages like the one on that “cute and sassy” T-shirt marketed to girls age 7 to 16.

While there is sure to be more terrible Halloween Costumes this year, this is a horrible/great start.

The folks at Green Halloween turned me on to a genius idea:

National Costume Swap Day.  If half the kids in the U.S. who celebrate Halloween swapped costumes, rather than buying new ones, the nation’s annual landfill waste would be reduced by 6,250 tons, according to Green Halloween. That’s about the weight of 2,500 mid-size cars.

They had great success with this idea last year, so Green Halloween and Swap.com have organized the second annual National Costume Swap on Saturday, Oct. 8.   Check out the  registration list too see if there is a swap in your area.

But you don’t have wait for someone to organize it for you.  Call all your friends and make a party of it.  Everyone brings their old costumes and you can go shopping among each other’s old Batman suits and witch’s hats.  Save some cash, save the planet and have a fun day playing dress-up. Everybody wins!
